Red Dead Redemption is the newest game from RockStar, they have not brought out another game since GTA4 in 2008. Red Dead Redemption use the same engine as GTA4 but it is very different you can tell that there hjave been a lot of changes in the last 2 years. Red Dead Redemption is the follow on from the shoot Red Dead Revolver 6 years ago. It’s time to put on your cowboy boots and go back to the west.

Red Dead Redemption is set in 1911 when the west is dying and the modern world is taking over. Before the west dies you can get on your horse and explore and look at the breathtaking environment. Explore Mexico and the deserts around there. Take part in a revolution, find the rare and fast horses. Look around Texas, explore the deserts and the Marshland need the lawless outpost Thieves’ Landing then finally head north to the Great Plains and the forests plus the snowy mountains. Each of the environments has it’s own beauty and has its own secrets that you will find, that’s only if you want to find them.

One of the locations, Armadillo, is the typical old western town with the salon, the more north you go the modern it gets.
You will play as John Marson that has been forced to work for the government against his will. They want him to take down his own gang after trying to start a life for him self. After starting the game you will do a few “missions” to get into the game play but soon enough you will be able to roam about freely and when you do this you will find a lot of different things to do. The are the “Stranger” takes, these are when people will ask you to do things for them, like go to location or find things some of them are a waste of time with nothing at the end for you but if you want 100% you will have to do all 18. Saying that some of them are interesting and I enjoyed doing them. Then there are the Master Challenge’s. This are where you have to kill animals in certain ways of find things, flowers and treasure, doing all of these will make you rich in the process which is always a good things, right? Also a new things that was not in GTA4, you can pick to be a good person or a bad on, each has its perks. Being good you can buy things cheaper at most stores and people will ask you for help as a bad person you might make more money and people will fear you but with the more good things you do the more “Fame” you will get. There are outfits to find and rare weapons to find which will make things easier for you. There are bounties for you as well, these are people you must find you can kill them or take them in alive on the back of your horse, wit these you can also get a lot of money. Also if you want to you can capture you own horse you will get tough all of these things in the game as you carry on with the different missions you do.

There are also a great deal of pass times in the game, there is 5. BlackJack, Poker, Arm Wrestling, Horse Shoes and my person best Lair Dice. In the game you will come across random events, like people trying to steel your horse (never ends well for them) or people getting short at and you can help them also you can save people from animals and that is just the start. Talking about animals there are 30 types of them some easy to kill some not so much. And to end the gang hideout these are easy to do not a lot of work to clear them out.

I GTA if you did bad things like shooting people after losing the Police you would have no bounty on Red Dead Redemption each time you do something like this it will increase your bounty until you pay it off, but it will get down on its own in time, if you don’t serve time in jail in which you will lose all of your money or killed.

Single players is fantastic but now lets turn to the Multi-Player. When you join you will be put into a Free Roam, which can have up to 16 players without a hint of lag, from there you can get XP or join other game modes, Free For All, Team Death Match etc. After a while though the MP does get a bit dull just doing the same things over and over, mainly gang hideout to get XP but RockStar already adding more they are putting a Co-Op in as well which that can be downloaded from PSN store or Xbox Live Marketplace for free. Red Dead Redemption life as a game good be very long if people stick with it.

RockStar have a Social Club. You link your account on there website and you can look at all your stats and how far for the 100% you are and how are in are in MP as well. It is a great things to have but I’ve been on 100% for a while and it has not updated since.
Overall this is a great game, on of the best I have played in a long time but people might be put of with the GTA engine but trust me its nothing like GTA, it more. I never liked GTA4 but I love this. MP could have had more but it still good. Red Dead Redemption is on of the best games I have played all year, it lives up to the hype unlike other game this year.

9.0 Presentation – Menus are well thought out into the games style and the load screens are near to non-existent

9.0 Graphics – Up close it can be a bit rough but you don’t really notice it, most of the time you don’t get close enough to notice it. The rest of it is just breathtaking

9.5 Sound – The sound is great, would be even better with surround sound. You can hear animal other people shooting, truly great

10 Game Play – This never gets old. I’ve been playing for about 3 weeks and I am still not fed up with it get, dare I say it better then GTA

10 Lasting Appeal – You could play this for weeks and still not do everything and you wont get fed up either there is just that much to do

Overall 8.0 Worth getting
